CD Cover: Selecting a style.

So far I have looked at a lot of CD covers, and the main ones I liked were the ones which were very simple with a lead image reflecting the style of music and the title, with not much writing. I think these appealed to me the most because there was no unnecessary changes to the photo, and this gave it a sort of raw edge. However, I did like the CD covers with dynamic edits, such as flames and smoke, which helped to express the style of music it belonged to.
Here is my favourite:

I like the editing in this photo because it made it deep and dark which helped to show the genre of music it belonged to, as the sharp editing signifies electronica and pop. I also really like the identifier of the A which is significantly larger than the other letters, and an edge is given in the font of the title as it has shatters throughout it, emphasising the word 'crisis'. I also like the way that the hands are larger than the city they are holding, expressing the name of the album, "places". This shows that A Goodnight Crisis are bringing the places, as well as the music, to their audience.

Exploration: CD Analysis

As part of the exploration part of media, we had to construct CD covers using our own photographs and ideas. In order to know how to form a link between the style of the cover (fonts, etc) and the style of the music it promotes, I had a look at some of the CDs I owned myself, to compare their styles and to see how their cover photos reflected the taste of music.
Here is the outcome.
